This project follows Blackhill Cemetery near Consett, County Durham, through a calendar year. I’m interested in how the cemetery changes with the seasons, and in the traces of local lives and history held within its grounds.
Here you’ll find observations from visits throughout the year, alongside stories about some of the people buried at Blackhill. The project is intended to grow with contributions from others, including memories, family connections, and details that help bring the cemetery’s history to life.
Please look around, follow the seasons, and get in touch if you have a story or contribution to share.
